POWER IN UNITY!
A salute to Houston’s resilience after Hurricane Harvey

Texas' biggest live Salsa and Dance show! A fully staged theatrical production features international, regional, and local artists, an original production guaranteed to make you dance! Salsa y Salud! combines high-energy salsa hits and classics with soulful dancing, featuring specially arranged music for the evening with many of the selections being world premieres. Original choreography and a cast of over 50 makes this a memorable evening for the entire family!

Celebrating its 8th Anniversary, Texas’ largest live salsa music, dance and health festival, Salsa y Salud presents POWER IN UNITY: a dynamic production saluting the City of Houston, First Responders, and Houstonians as they came together in the aftermath of one of our city’s most devastating natural disasters – Hurricane Harvey. With support from the Texas Commission on the Arts, City of Houston, American Heart Association, Houston Arts Alliance, Silver Eagle Distributors, Rice University Boniuk Institute, and others, this year’s installment celebrates the remarkable recovery the city had, honors the lives of victims, and reminds us that still after a year, they’re many still affected by the hurricane. An original, multi-media, new production features special musical arrangements, world premieres, new choreography and staging - all inspired and commissioned for this occasion. Salsa y Salud is sponsored in part by the City of Houston through Miller Theatre Advisory Board.

Produced by Flamart in collaboration with Foundation for Modern Music and Strictly Street Salsa, the 2018 performance features representation from more than 15 countries and an international cast of over 30 artists, among them Manolo Mairena, Jorge Orta y su Tumbaká, Reinaldo Costa, Sandi Morales, Raúl Orlando Edwards, Julio Rodriguez, Katherine Ocando, Strictly Street Salsa dancer, and many more.

This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area. Free tickets are available (4 per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30 AM-1:00 PM. If tickets remain at 1:00 PM, the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets. As always, open seating on the hill. The shows goes on rain or shine.
